Hazard Mitigation Grants
The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) grant program provides funding for eligible mitigation activities that reduce disaster losses, and protect life and property from future disaster damages, including but not limited to 1) Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Program; 2) Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA); 3) and Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP). The BRIC and FMA grants are available on an annual pre-calculated formula and are nationwide competitive programs. The HMGP becomes available after a major disaster declaration in California and is competitive within California. All HMA grants are 75% federal and 25% local cost-share grants.
