2024 Winter Storm Recovery Overview

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is at the forefront of ensuring the safety and resilience of the Santa Clara County community. We remain steadfast, devoted to a core mission - safeguarding lives, protecting property, and preserving the environment. We strive for a culture where every resident, organization, and entity is prepared.

Earlier last week, the National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch for the entire Bay Area, effective from 4 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024 through 10 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2024. A Wind Advisory was also in effect for the Santa Clara Valley from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2024 with winds ranging between 30-40 mph and isolated gusts reaching 50 mph.

Santa Clara County actively monitored the storms expected in our area. We worked closely with our local and state partners, which included the National Weather Service, Cal OES, Valley Water, PG&E, and our 15 cities and towns, to coordinate emergency response efforts to ensure the safety of our community members.

Significant power outages have greatly impacted Santa Clara County. Community members with Durable Medical Equipment (DME) such as infusion pumps, lancet devices, nebulizers, oxygen equipment, etc., should call 211 for referrals to obtain portable charging devices.
